HP’s TouchPad vanishing fast in Fire Sale

The soon to be distinct HP’s TouchPad was put on sale in the US for $99 for 16GB of storage, and $150 for 32GB of storage. In an unexpected frenzy, buyers rushed to the stores and cleared out entire stock at BestBuy and Staples in New York City’s Union Square within hours from going on sale

A number of retailer were sold out on Saturday due to the massive reduction in Touchpad’s prices. Alongside the TouchPad, Palm smartphone prices were also slashed and were cleared within hours at the BestBuy store. HP’s own website also appears to run of stock.
Just a couple of days before the price cut HP had announced plans for ditching their Personal Computer division. The company’s chief executive Leo Apotheker said HP would immediately discontinue the development of TouchPad.
Reportedly, amongst the buyers are developers and technology enthusiasts who are buying the tablet in order to test out the WebOS (HP’s own operating system).
We have also seen reports from some famous websites revealing that the performance of the WebOS is much better than Apple’s iOS on iPad. The performance difference is reported to be almost twice as fast as iOS when WebOS was put to test on an iPad 2.
If you happen to know any stores still selling the Touchpad, the please do share it with our readers in the comment box below!
